Word web is an excellent free dictionary for windows operating system. I have been using it from a year and its really superb.
The most interesting feature of this free dictionary is that it can tell you the meaning of any word appearing anywhere on your computer screen whether its images, pdf files or even from toolbars and menus. It can scan words from virtually any type of media appearing on your screen.
To look up the meaning of any word appearing on your screen you just have to point your curser to the word and press the keys "Ctrl+Right Click" or you can also press "Ctrl+Alt+W" for looking up specific words.
Word web free can also lookup the online references like Wikipedia and Wikitionary within the dictionary itself.
This tiny dictionary application works like a charm in my windows xp system and is not at all resource hungry.
It just resides in system tray and pops up whenever you search for any meanings.
