How to clean unnecessary files from hard discs ?

Over time, many softwares leaves a lot of unnecessary and temporary files on your hard drives that do nothing but consume disk space. Really easy to use, DiskSweeper software is designed to detect all unnecessary files through your many disks and erase operations to a minimum.

Start the installation (the classic) and then run the software.


Search Paths
section lists the different disks, and other key detected on your system. By default, the program selects all records, but you can choose not to select a few.

In the
Filter section, please check that the selected option is "Junk Files" (useless files). The software can also track all your images ("Graphics Files") or your videos and music ("Media Files"), but this is not our subject.

It is also advisable to check "
Skip System Files" to make sure that no system file will be deleted by mistake, but this remains optional.
  1. Go to the File menu and select Start Scan, or simply press [F5].
  2. The analysis begins. It will take several minutes or almost an hour if your drives are many and saturated. Two deserve your attention: Total Items Found shows the number of unnecessary files detected and Total Disk Space Wasted disk consumption as a result.
  3. Once the list, check it to ensure no important file has been included by mistake.
  4. Go to the Edit menu and click Select All to select all files.
  5. Go to the File menu and click Delete to Recycle Bin to delete all the files.
  6. Go to the Clean menu and click Recycle Bin to empty the trash.

So, your discs are cleaned of unnecessary files.
