Most of the time videophone software and instant messaging with audio / video will only provide 2. What if one wants to talk to 3, 4, 5 or 6 friends at the same time? About ooVoo, the video public is the easiest to implement! And it's free!
Step 1: Discovery and Installation
ooVoo is a video to several extremely easy to use and offering audio-video features several walking really well, with excellent audio and video quality. The software can also record video conversations, send video messages to your friends offline, and so on.
ooVoo is available in two versions: a free version and a higher fee. The free version comes with a search Yahoo (modified features ooVoo) and displays advertising banners in the windows (just like Live Messenger, for example). It is also limited to 3 conferences. The shareware version allows video to 6, using high definition video recording and offers unlimited.
The installation of ooVoo is a snap because the wizard step is in English. Note however that when choosing the location of the software (on the second screen of the wizard), it is strongly recommended to uncheck Install Yahoo / ooVoo. It is unhelpful, just override the browser and displays advertisements.
Once installed, the first launch, you must first create a user account. Enter the information requested. The software will ask you to define your personal image or from an image file on your disk by typing directly a photo with your Webcam.
The program then asks you to enter information. These are optional, it is generally advisable to leave blank and move on to next steps.
Screen Your profile settings deserves some attention: it determines whether your profile is public, semi-private or confidential. It is strongly advised to choose the mode Anyone can send me an invitation. Prefer mode Only people who know my e-mail or my ID ooVoo. If you do not want friends can contact you unless you've specifically allowed (by adding them manually in your list of friends ooVoo), rather check the third option: Leave my login completely confidential!
The software will start last. Note that it displays a window Find your friends who can import address books and make connections automatically. We do not use this feature, insufficiently confidential to our taste. So check the Do not show this message at startup and click Close.
Step 2: Making contact
OoVoo window is very similar to that of an instant messaging software classic. They include:
1 - The message associated with the login
2 - The status button to indicate your availability
3 - The button to add new contacts (just his ooVoo login or email)
4 - The list of contacts
5 - The button for sending video messages via email
6 - The start button conversations audio-video
7 - The start button chat (text conversations)
8 - The rocking mode extended to simplified mode

Step 3: Set up and test the video
Before you start a video conversation, first verify that the audio and video from your PC is functional and properly adjusted:
- In the File menu, click Test Webcam
- Click the Test
- The image of your camera should appear on the screen
- Use the two sliders at the bottom of the screen to control the image resolution (loading) and the fluidity of the video (frame rate). Typically, on high-speed ADSL lines is preferred for the "best quality" and "15 fps.
- Open the Audio Devices tab (on the left)
- Use the Test button to verify that the microphone and volume are well settled.
- Click Save.
Step 4: Start the video!
It is time to start your first videoconference. This assumes that you've already been able to invite one or more friends to install ooVoo.
- Select a first contact from the list.
- Click on the button (Start a video call) of the lower panel to start the video.
- Your video and your contact are displayed side by side. Make sure you see and you hear.
- Find the button Invite need right. Click it and select another contact. A third window showing the video of this new contact appears.
- You can now converse quietly 3. On the "More", you can still invite 3 other contacts to join the conversation, the 6 webcams are displayed simultaneously on the screen of the 6 people involved in the conversation.
